Free GC from Gonuts Donuts!

  • Sep. 25th, 2009 at 4:33 PM

I know it's not the more popular ones like Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts but it's one helluva good one too! and it's FREE! I love KK but you have to eat like a million KK donuts because they are so airy and basically I was hoping for more substance and I find the other doughnuts too sweet or is it just me?? LOL I must say that I love Gonuts Donuts doughnuts (did I say donuts?) as much as KK…they’re much better than Dunkin Donuts.

Whenever I am in SM, I always grab a bite of their doughnuts and enjoy one of the less appreciated things that Gonuts Donuts serves... a badass and incredibly mean capuccino. I always feel it is worth the price and would be a treat to have it for free right??

So if you have a Facebook account, answer THIS QUIZ then you'll get instructions on how to get a FREE Gonuts Donuts GC right after you get your quiz results!  The GC's would be given to the first 350 people that take the quiz!

So what the *bleep* are you waiting for? Lemme know how much  of a certified sugar fan you are!!!

Take-out 3p: The Sandwich Guy

 Rating:
Food : 8 (healthy, yummy and filling, hefty servings)
Price : 8 (value for money, cheaper version of Oliver's and Subway's)
Ambience : 8 (saw the place in McKinley Hill, small place. No dine-in, take-out only!)
Service: 8 (they really don't deliver to our place but made the extra effort)

We ordered the creamy carbonara and hell yes, it's really creamy and cheesy..yum!

We also had TSG Bigtime, a double
decker sandwich with your choice of 3 delis and 2 slices of cheese. I chose roastbeef, bacon and ham..and it's really bigtime! :D

and of course, the crabstick 'n mangoes sandwich is yummy too! try to ask for a wasabi mayo *wink*

HBLT sandwich is filled with huge bacon chunks ( mmm..love 'em chunks!) which is superb and I can guarantee that the meals would hardly cause any damage to anyone's saving account.

Their sandwiches are grilled like a panini..No cold sandwiches or cold subs. I'd like to try their cheesy bacon baked potato or the chili con carne but the branch in Pacific Star said they ran out of baked potatoes. ~sigh~ hoh well, next time...

Most of their clients here have their sandwiches on the go. No dine-in, take-out only! The delivery minimum is only 200 bucks and they have 8 branches now.. They really don't deliver to our place because it's too far and they only deliver to those places which are either walking distance or within their vicinity or somewhere they can deliver it by bike. geessh! The delivery boy really made an extra effort finding our place so I gave him a tip for going the extra mile. =)

Have you ever had vinegar dip with your pansit? I like the after taste of their distinct suka. It blends so well with their pansit, makes me drool as I anxiously re-arrange the pechay, sayote, carrots, onion and those oh-so-good lechon kawali chunks over my sauteed wheat-egg noodles and spread a few drops of vinegar. Yum!!! *burps*

Buddy's is famous for its panscit habhab, and rightly so. This one hails from Lucban, Quezon, and just to remind you of that, the place is decorated with colorful leaves made of rice flour paste that are hung during Quezon's famous Pahiyas fiesta. My first encounter with Buddy's pansit lucban was when I had my PT internship in Quezon and needless to say, I liked it. Few years later, it was a pleasant surprise when I found out that they already had some branches in Manila and the one at Kakarong St. was just a few blocks away from our house so we always eat there for lunch or dinner. What I love to eat from buddy's is their famous pansit Lucban, longganisa, hardinera, sisig and Budin (or cassava cake). A two-thumbs up for the these tasteful foodie. A must try when you visit their place.

hardinera - tastes like menudo with a twist ..

the yummy Longganisa Lucban

Budin ... budin.. shalalalala.. budin.. budin.... haha we were just singing...and composed a new song bout it LOL

Food : 8 (yummy desserts )
Price : 7 (fair enough)
Ambience : 8 ( I heart Serendra)
Service: 8 (Fast and friendly service)

I have ceased to be a fan of cakes since cakes are amost always  too sweet or too fluffy, nakakaumay or fattening.. but then Mango Bravo is not one of them.  For a resto located in such an upscale and high end place, Conti’s has reasonable prices and dishes that are well worth your money. At first, I thought that I would never be able to finish a slice  pf Mango Bravo because the cake slice of each serving was huge, the big serving size is ideal for sharing. But since the cake is made out of meringue instead of flour, it’s very very light on the stomach. Not so sweet, fresh, very creamy, almost an ice cream cake to me but not heavy. It is really yummy with huge hunks of fresh mangoes. Love 'em chunks! ~drools and wipes laway~ I also like the Turtle Pie, real good but the strawberry cheesecake, uhmm, not quite.

My top picks would be: Baked Pink Salmon, Lasagna, Mango Bravo, risotto, linguine in pesto w/ seafood, chicken pie, choco overload cake and turtle pie. The fetuccini carbonara and cheesy baked mac is not that impressive though.

Their service is fast and friendly. Their portions are just right and the price is affordable. They also have takeout counters for their pastries, desserts, frozen pasta sauces. I love going there when I'm  in Serendra.  Against my better judgement I brave the heat and sometimes the rain just to get a seat. LOL The ambiance is very cozy, set up is nice and the place is clean. Good and satisfying food for its reasonable price.

In conclusion, I love it! Bravo! =D

Chinese food 3p: Wai Ying

Food : 8 (yummy badass chinese food )
Price : 7 (Affordable, reasonable price, cheap eats)
Ambience : 6 (uhmm..you'll see..)

Wai Ying's hakaw (aka hakao, or hargao) which is all shrimp is simply the best. You see, at other dimsum places, when you are served shrimp dumpling, you actually get at least 60% pork and about 40% shrimp meat mashed together. To illustrate, hakaw is a delicate dumpling made of whole (not minced) shrimps, and a tiny bit of minced bamboo shoots wrapped in exquisitely thin dumpling paper. Those who have been to Hong Kong know what I'm talking about.   But the food I've tried in Wai Ying is waaay better than the Chinese food I tried in HongKong.

Their Cold HK milk tea was just nice...and again, defo better than those I've tried in HK  or Singapore.  it wasnt your instant milk tea ala easy way or quickly. this thing had real milk and tea and it was just so effin smooth. It is a hole in the wall kind of a restaurant. If you’re looking for a clean Chinese restaurant in Ongpin it's defo not one of them but if you want badass Chinese dimsum and rice toppings, go to Wai Ying. I tried the dumplings, curry beef siomai, hakaw, Tomato Prokchop, Curry Beef Rice and Fish Fillet with corn sauce and they are all goood and yeah, I'm going back for more!

Food : 8 (Delicious frozen yogurt )
Price : 7 (Affordable, reasonable price but not exactly cheap)
Ambience : 7 (really nice place to chill)

Well, I went to Greenbelt with my baby girl just because we are extremely bored and thought that a good solution for our boredom would be a bowl of fresh Red Mango frozen yogurt,  original flavor, plain, in the amount of what a small size would be in stores. It’s as creamy as gelato but not nearly as icy as other yogurts I've tried.

But the taste? Well, let me say this. I’m actually a fan of frozen yogurt. A very big fan. I find it to be delicious, healthy and refreshing without being disgustingly full after I’m done eating it. The taste is a little tart, but still better than most other frozen yogurts. But that said, Red Mango is even better. It’s a bit tart, but not overly tart at all. You can add toppings on your yogurt. As for toppings, they’ll include granola, nuts, fresh fruits, cereals, chocolate chips and the like.  Just add PhP20 for 1 topping, PhP30 for 2 toppings and PhP40 for 3 toppings. Green tea yogurt is a bit more expensive than the plain yogurt but it's all worth it. I heart the green tea more than the plain yogurt.

With Red Mango, that overly sour tart flavor is much less. Hardly noticeable. What is noticeable, however, is the creaminess of the yogurt. If you’ve had gelato, you know what I mean. Although it does come out of a high tech soft-serve machine, it tastes like it was just whipped up in the back of the store. No after taste is left, and you don’t feel like you’ve just had a bowl of ice cream when you’re done. I also paired it with Chimara's tofu chips. I almost always grab some MSG-free seasoned Tofu Chips from Chimara whenever I go in GB3. I love the greaseless crunch and tangy flavor of their sour cream n' chives Tofu Chips. They're thicker than potato chips so they're more satisfying.

2 thumbs up for these 2 yummy food 3ps!!!

A restaurant with a fragrant garden where you could take a walk at night or lay in beds with nets for a romantic tryst. nice! their rooms are amazing! They have organic food on the menu, and it also has a spa, country store and even its own bakery (where you can buy freshly baked bread). The service in the restaurant is very good, although a bit pricey at P610 for an eat-all-you-can menu of salad, pasta and dessert. I love their salad and that smashingly sinful homemade chocolate cake. I also like their tarragon tea because it puts away all the umay factor! :)

We had luch at Banapple and we absolutely love the food! Well I thought it's just in front of Ateneo or near the restos lined up along Katipunan Ave. so we were looking for like 20 minutes til we finally found the place LOL When we went there for lunch, it was packed and we have to wait for 5 minutes or so. The tiny restaurant is really homey and can hold approximately up to around 20 persons and maybe 3 or 4 cars can park in front, van and truck not included. lol Once seated, we ordered food in the counter ala fast food and minutes later they served our food. Loved the herbed chicken, glazed tocino with creamed eggs and trio sausage plus the ever famous banoffee pie for dessert and chicken pie for Maia. Maia love the carrots and I especially like the eggs and pasta! lol We only paid 500+ for the four of us, with desserts na and we absolutely love the food! I was surprised that this little place offer such a wide variety of food to choose from and they all come in big serving. They also serve coffee and smoothies! no beer though! :) But we're definitely going back to try the other dishes. :) and I really hope they branch out somewhere in Makati. :)

Breakfast Buffet

I defo recommend Seabreeze Resto Buffet at Boracay Regency as well as the lunch and dinner buffets were sumptuous, many  food choices and the service staff is very accommodating.  The Boracay Regency is a nice hotel but what really makes it stand out is the staff. They are friendly and accommodating. I don't think there was anything that I asked for that was not delivered with a smile.

The Bag of Beans is worth a visit if you are looking for a nice homey but casual eating-out place for breakfast.  A good place to take your pictures as well. I have been here several times and would definitely go back everytime I'm in Tagaytay.. great ambience and great food plus the servings are quite big for the price, would even sacrifice sleep just to have breakfast here.. their  omelette that comes with tasty sausage and freshly baked bread is a must try.. i also love their pancakes and milkshakes.. but DO make sure you get a cup of alamid coffee and a slice of blueberry cheesecake before leaving!

For sweet moments - visit the place ( preferably night time).

=)
